A drug laboratory with cannabis worth over 9 million hryvnias was liquidated in the Ternopil region

In Ternopil region, law enforcement officers have exposed a couple involved in the illegal production and sale of drugs. As part of the criminal proceedings, more than 25 kilograms of cannabis were seized, the estimated value of which at black market prices exceeds 9 million hryvnias.

According to investigation data, a native of Kherson region, who lived in one of the villages of Chortkiv district, organized the cultivation of cannabis in a specially equipped room. He placed the drug laboratory in a neighboring house, to which he had unhindered access. Lighting, ventilation, irrigation and microclimate control systems were used there.

In addition, finished narcotic products were stored and packaged in the utility room for the purpose of further sale. During the searches, narcotics, equipment for growing cannabis, mobile phones, SIM cards and draft records were seized.

The man was detained pursuant to Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He was informed of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and a preventive measure in the form of detention without the right to post bail was chosen.

His accomplice was also detained. The woman is charged with illegal acquisition and possession of narcotics for the purpose of sale in particularly large quantities by prior conspiracy by a group of persons. The court also chose for her a preventive measure in the form of detention without bail.

Investigations are ongoing, law enforcement officers are identifying other persons involved in the illegal activity.
