Land plots will be confiscated from Ukrainian citizens from 1 January 2025

From January 1, 2025, the expropriation of land plots whose owners have not yet registered ownership rights will begin in Ukraine. This applies to allotments where citizens have not completed the legal registration of their land rights. If the documents are not completed on time, such plots will be transferred to the ownership of local communities.

The government reminds that there is very little time left for registration of property rights. Within a few months, citizens who did not take care of processing documents may lose their land plots. All unregistered plots will be treated as ownerless, and their owners will be considered to have voluntarily given up their land.

To avoid losing their land, citizens need to take care of the paperwork as soon as possible. Owners who still have a “Land Share Certificate” should replace it with an extract from the Register of Property Rights and complete all the necessary legal procedures, because there are a little more than three months left to resolve this issue.
