A war risk compensation program for businesses has been launched in Ukraine

The first five applications for property insurance against war risks have been submitted in Ukraine under a new state program introduced at the request of businesses amid constant attacks on enterprises and critical infrastructure.

The mechanism provides two areas of support. The first is direct state compensation for losses for enterprises operating in front-line regions. The second is partial reimbursement of insurance premiums for businesses throughout Ukraine.

For companies in front-line zones, the maximum amount of compensation is up to 10 million hryvnias for property damaged or destroyed starting from January 1, 2026. To participate in the program, you must pay a one-time contribution of 0.5% of the total amount of possible losses for all declared property.

Among the first participants in the program is Suziria Group, a family group of companies from Kharkiv, operating in the pet products sector. Despite the war, the business has retained jobs in the frontline city, including an office and logistics and production facilities. For the company, the new mechanism has become a tool for planning further development in conditions of high risks. Four more applications have also been received from enterprises from frontline regions.

The government emphasizes the state’s readiness to be a business partner in order to preserve production, jobs, and economic activity even in difficult conditions. The program is part of the “Made in Ukraine” policy and is implemented through the Export Credit Agency.

Earlier, the Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Oleksiy Sobolev reported that in 2026, 1 billion hryvnias were allocated to compensate for war risks for businesses. The authorities do not predict a quick use of these funds, given that a number of state support programs traditionally absorb less money than budgeted.
