After 600 searches, police announced more than 60 suspicions of illegally smuggling men across the border
The police conducted 600 searches in 22 regions of Ukraine as part of the first stage of a special operation to stop the illegal export of men of military age abroad. 60 suspicions have already been announced against the organizers and participants of the schemes, including heads of state institutions. Almost 50 schemes of illegal border crossing were exposed in one day. Among them are reshipment outside official checkpoints, forgery of medical documents, fictitious entry into the information system “Shlyah” and other illegal methods.
Officials of medical institutions, territorial recruitment centers (TCC), military medical commissions (MMC), medical and social expert commissions (MSEK) and civilians were involved in criminal schemes. They secured certificates of unfitness for service, forged documents or organized border crossings through forests, rivers or even in the trunks of trucks or in women’s clothing.
“Clients” were found through acquaintances or closed Telegram channels, and the cost of such services ranged from 5 to 22 thousand dollars, depending on the method of crossing the border. Earned funds were used to buy cars, real estate or transferred offshore.
During the searches, lists of persons who illegally left abroad in 2024, fake documents, seals of state authorities, weapons, black bookkeeping and cash in various currencies were seized.
Among the suspects are both performers and organizers, in particular officials of various levels. Their actions are qualified under part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — illegal transportation of persons across the state border.
