American singer Washed Out releases clip created with artificial intelligence (video)
American singer Washed Out presented a new video for the song “The Hardest Part”, created with the help of the innovative generator of hyperrealistic videos Sora from OpenAI.
Sora, which is not yet available to the general public. As written Los Angeles Times, video director Paul Trillo gave the creators of the clip the opportunity to use the tool. He supposedly did it for free. The creative team that worked on the video say that AI allowed them to do something big without blowing the budget. It is known that the director created about 700 videos with the help of text prompts in Sora. Of these, 55 were selected and assembled together.
“Many music videos simply don’t have the budget to make dreams come true.I believe that AI can help the music industry create things that even Ernest (Washed Out) could only dream of, that he may not have even dared to dream of before. … With no budget constraints and no need to travel to different places, I was able to explore all these different, alternative ways of life for this couple“, – says Trillo.
The video unfolds as a story of a couple in love, a red-haired curly-haired girl and a brunette boy. The viewer seems to follow them throughout their lives, which take place in different places and time intervals. As with many AI-generated videos, the appearance of the characters changes from scene to scene. In the description of the video on YouTube, the creators note that this is the first music video created using Sora, as well as the longest video generated by artificial intelligence.
While innovations in AI tools for content creation open up new opportunities, not everyone in the music industry approves of their adoption. Last month, more than 200 artists signed a letter calling for stronger regulation of the use of AI in music.
