An experiment with the use of long-distance road trains starts in Ukraine

Ukraine will begin an experiment with the use of long-distance three-link road trains. The corresponding decision was supported by the government at the initiative of the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine.

As reported by the Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine – Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba, the experimental project will be implemented on the Kyiv – Odessa – Kyiv route.

Such transport warehouses have been used for many years in a number of European Union countries, in particular in Sweden, Finland, Denmark and the Netherlands. They make it possible to transport larger volumes of cargo per trip, reduce logistics costs and use road infrastructure more efficiently.

“For Ukraine, this is primarily about increasing transportation efficiency, supporting the economy and integrating into the European transport space”, — said Oleksiy Kuleba.

According to him, the project will be implemented exclusively with special permits and after conducting the necessary technical studies of route safety.

“Within two years, we will evaluate the results of the experiment and the possibility of expanding such solutions to other logistics areas”, — added Oleksiy Kuleba.

After the experiment is completed, the government will evaluate its results and determine the feasibility of using long-distance three-link road trains on other routes in Ukraine.
