Bitumen imports in Ukraine hit record high

In July of this year, the import of bitumen in Ukraine increased by 2.2 times and reached 38 thousand tons. This volume was the highest since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, transmits enkorr.ua.

This volume was the highest since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia. The last time higher figures were recorded in 2021, during the implementation of the “Great Construction” program, when monthly imports reached 92,000 tons, and in total for the year – 1.1 million tons.

The main source of supplies in July remained Poland, from where more than 24,400 tons of bitumen arrived. The PKN ORLEN company supplied the most — 20.4 thousand tons, another 1.9 thousand tons — the Unimot division. The second place in terms of volume was taken by Romania – 5.9 thousand tons were imported from there last month. The main supplier was Vitaro Energy (4.5 thousand tons), another 1 thousand tons were delivered by Bitholder.

The reason for the increase in imports was the increase in funding for road construction. In the state budget for 2025, UAH 12.6 billion was primarily provided for the repair of key areas necessary for defense and the economy. This is 26% less compared to the previous year, but in April the Cabinet of Ministers allocated an additional 5.2 billion UAH for roads in the frontline regions, and in May – another 2.78 billion UAH for the development and maintenance of the network of public roads.
