Bread in Ukraine is becoming more expensive due to the critical electricity situation and the mobilization of workers

The bread industry of Ukraine is facing a critical situation due to a lack of electricity, which will lead to an increase in the price of bread for consumers.
About this reported President of the All-Ukrainian Association of Bakers Yury Duchenko.
“The bread industry does not consume a lot of electricity, but emergency shutdowns, shutdowns outside the schedule lead to the production of defective products, equipment failure. Not all factories are able to work on generators. And those that have, should switch production to emergency operation for 2-3 hours“, Yuriy Duchenko remarked.
According to Duchenko, the cost of electricity for the production of a simple loaf of bread has tripled from 50 kopecks to 1.5 hryvnias when using a generator. Another problem for the bread industry is booking. Due to the lack of workers, some bakeries are forced to change their working hours and reduce the volume and range of products. The third problem is the lack of grain of the second and third class.
Bakers are said to be worried about how they will work until the next harvest. Duchenko argues that all participants in the grain supply chain must come together to find a solution. He proposes to sign a memorandum with farmers and exporters under the auspices of the relevant ministry. Flour prices have already increased by 25-30%.
