Canada cancels contract to supply Ukraine with repaired armored vehicles
Canada has canceled a plan to transfer repaired armored vehicles to Ukraine. This was stated by Minister of National Defense David McGuinty during a speech before a committee of the House of Commons, reports CBC.
According to him, the contract for the supply of restored light armored vehicles to Kyiv has been officially canceled. These are 25 decommissioned armored personnel carriers from the Armatec Survivability company, which the Canadian Ministry of National Defense transferred for repair in Dorchester, a suburb of London, almost two years ago.
The project was planned to be implemented through the Canadian Ministry of Defense, since the country had limited resources of weapons and equipment for Ukraine. The Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) was the intermediary in this deal, which was supposed to negotiate a contract worth about $250 million. The plan to supply armored vehicles appeared in the federal agency’s quarterly report until the summer of 2025, but was later “mysteriously” canceled.
“At this time, a decision has been made to terminate the contract with this company. I cannot discuss the essence of the matter further. We will see how the relationship with the department and the contractor develops”, – said McGinty, refraining from disclosing details.
CCC also refused to comment on the situation, citing “obligation to maintain commercial secrecy”.
