Chernihiv launched the first video surveillance system in Ukraine with elements of artificial intelligence
Chernihiv became the first city in Ukraine to launch a video surveillance system using artificial intelligence, created on the basis of Ukrainian software. A special center was opened in the city, which combined a modern network of cameras, server equipment and monitoring infrastructure.
As reported by the press service of the Chernihiv region police on Facebook, the system operates on the basis of artificial intelligence algorithms. As part of the project, 400 video surveillance cameras were installed in Chernihiv, some of which are capable of recognizing faces and vehicles. In total, the number of cameras in the region has increased to 1,500.
Separately, server equipment was installed and a monitoring center was created, which provides centralized management of the entire network. The police emphasize that the system is of important strategic importance, as it is based on a domestic software product.
“The system is built on Ukrainian-made software, which provides technological independence, flexibility in development, and the ability to quickly scale to meet the needs of territorial communities. Its use contributes to enhancing the information awareness of the security and defense forces of Ukraine by obtaining up-to-date visual information, improving the quality of situational monitoring, timely identification of risks and making informed management decisions, the report says.
According to the Chernihiv region police, the work of the new center allows for real-time monitoring of the security situation in the city, faster finding of missing children, prompt response to offenses and emergencies, and coordination of interaction between various services. For residents of Chernihiv, the system should become an additional tool for quickly receiving assistance in critical situations.
