Cold snap in Ukraine led to an increase in electricity consumption: two regions were de-energized
The decrease in temperature caused an increase in electricity consumption in Ukraine by 3.7%. On Monday, November 25, NEC “Ukrenergo” reported on the introduction of blackout schedules in all regions from 14:00 to 20:00. Due to bad weather, 67 settlements in Chernihiv and Sumy regions were left without electricity supply.
According to NEC “Ukrenergo”, as of 6:00 a.m., the level of electricity consumption increased by 3.7% compared to the same time on Friday, November 22. This increase is associated with a decrease in air temperature in most regions of the country.
In recent years, the Ukrainian energy system has been constantly facing a shortage of power. To balance the operation of the system, hourly shutdown schedules have been implemented in all regions of the country. At the same time, “Ukrenergo” notes that the situation in the power system is dynamically changing, so adjustments to these measures are possible.
Energy experts also called on citizens to use electrical appliances responsibly after the restoration of electricity supply, avoiding turning on several powerful devices at the same time. The Ukrainian energy system is under heavy load due to constant enemy attacks. Representatives of “Ukrenergo” call on citizens to consume electricity wisely, especially in conditions of increased demand.
