Corruption scandal in the Kharkiv tax office: two officials were sentenced

The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine passed a verdict in a corruption case, convicting an employee of the Kharkiv tax office and a private entrepreneur for aiding and abetting a bribe to the head of the DPS State Department in the Kharkiv region. Both received 5 years of imprisonment with probation, informs Specialized anti-corruption prosecutor’s office.
The purpose of the bribe was to provide assistance in making a decision on the exclusion of one of the companies from the list of payers that meet the risk criteria, as well as in the registration of suspended tax invoices of this company.
The charge was brought under Part 5 of Art. 27 and Part 3 of Art. 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court sentenced the former chief specialist to 5 years of imprisonment, but released her from serving the sentence with probation for 2 years. The entrepreneur also received 5 years of imprisonment with a probationary period of 1 year.
In addition, the entrepreneur is obliged to transfer 100,000 hryvnias to the United 24 Fund for the “Army of Drones” project within 15 days.
The verdict can be challenged in an appeal procedure within 30 days from the day of its announcement by submitting an appeal to the Appeals Chamber of the VACS.
