Drone attack in Odesa and the surrounding area: one person killed, 13 others injured

As a result of a night attack by Russian drones on Odesa and its surroundings on 9 November, one person was killed and 13 others were injured, including two children. This was reported by the Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

The office opened a criminal investigation into the violation of the laws and customs of war as a result of Russia’s attack on Odesa on the night of 8-9 November, classified under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

According to investigators, the victims include two children aged 4 and 16, as well as a local resident who died. Information about other victims is being clarified.

Multi-storey buildings in two residential complexes, private houses, warehouses of a private enterprise and cars of the townspeople were damaged, at least 10 of which were completely destroyed by fire,’ the statement said.

The inspection of the scene is ongoing, and the prosecutor’s office continues to establish a full list of damage and destruction.

What is known about the night attack on Odesa on 9 November 2024

The airstrike lasted over an hour, starting at 23:20, when an air raid was declared, and ending at 00:43.

The air force warned of Russian drones approaching Odesa and Zatoka. Oleh Kiper, the head of the UMA, said that air defence forces were targeting drones in Odesa and Odesa district.

The first explosions were heard around 23:55, after which the city heard several explosions and air defence systems operating until 00:38.

A fire broke out in one of Odesa’s residential complexes after a drone strike, local residents reported.
