Enemy drones hit high-rise buildings in Sumy and Chernihiv regions: there are casualties
On the night of December 8, Russian drones struck residential areas in two cities at once – Okhtyrka in Sumy Oblast and Chernihiv. This was reported by the head of the Sumy OAV Oleg Hryhorov and the head of the Chernihiv MVA Dmytro Bryzhynskyi in their official messages.
In the Okhtyrka community, the enemy directed three strike UAVs at the city. One of them, according to the head of the region, hit a high-rise building:
“One of the enemy drones hit a residential high-rise building while civilians were sleeping in their homes”.
Initially, five injured civilians were reported, but later their number increased to seven. Two people were hospitalized, the others were treated on an outpatient basis. The building was seriously damaged – some residents took refuge in the basement, and rescuers unblocked those on the damaged floors. An operational headquarters is operating on site, emergency services are working, and invincibility points have been organized.
In Chernihiv that same night, the enemy also used a strike drone. According to Dmytro Bryzhynskyi, the UAV exploded in a residential area near a multi-storey building. The blast wave blew out doors and windows in homes, damaged several cars, and a fire broke out on a gas pipeline, which was quickly contained.
Two people were injured – they received bruises and are under medical supervision. Emergency services continue to work at the scene.
