For the production of explosives in Ukraine, it is planned to attract private companies and allocate grants
Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced that private companies are planned to be involved in the production of explosives in Ukraine, which will receive financial support in the form of grants. It’s him stated during the Defense Tech Innovation Forum organized by the Brave1 defense technology clusters.
According to the minister, preparatory work has already been carried out, thanks to which the market for the private production of gunpowder and ammunition has been opened, and bureaucratic obstacles for entrepreneurs have been removed. Fedorov emphasized that the next stage – provision of grant support – will start in the near future.
“Firstly, we opened the market, allowed the production of gunpowder for the private sector and ammunition. Second, we allowed the import of various components for production. And the next step is financial support. Grants are the best approach, and we will launch it very quickly. The president set the task of finding funds half a year ago, so they have already been allocated.” Fedorov stressed.
According to him, the state has developed a program that will allow companies engaged in the production of gunpowder to join this project. One of the key tasks is to ensure the safe location of production facilities, which is implemented through the creation of an additional program with clear requirements for obtaining a license – in particular, production must take place at a safe distance from populated areas in compliance with all safety standards.
Answering a question about the provision of raw materials in the conditions of a global shortage of necessary substances, Fedorov noted that Ukrainian entrepreneurs possess various technologies and know exactly where to look for the necessary components, as well as develop innovative types of explosives, which allows you to confidently solve possible problems.
Head of the Brave1 cluster Nataliya Kushnerska added that there is a shortage of production capacity for the creation of explosives in Ukraine, so additional investments are planned for the project. She also emphasized that there are already teams involved in the production of ammunition for drones: more than 150 codified samples of ammunition for UAVs were created last year. Currently, one of the tasks is to convey information about these possibilities to the front, which will allow the military to receive the necessary types of shells for specific missions.
