How to find housing in Switzerland was explained to Ukrainian refugees
At the beginning of military operations in Ukraine, millions of refugees were forced to leave their homes, changing them to temporary housing abroad. Switzerland, like other foreign countries, became one of their refuges. The main issue faced by Ukrainians when they arrive abroad is the search for housing.
April 7 at Telegram channels “Ukrainians in Switzerland” is posted link to the site, which contains advice on where and how to find housing, as well as other information for persons from Ukraine in need of protection.
As noted, after arriving in Switzerland, Ukrainians will be accommodated in a refugee reception center. There they will be helped with the preparation of documents and will decide where to distribute further.
In addition, there are other online housing search platforms that advise you to familiarize yourself with the housing market, learn about prices, types of housing, neighborhoods, regulations, etc.:
Temporary housing for Ukrainians is provided by cantonal refugee reception centers, and private apartments are provided by the Swiss government. At the same time, they can receive financial assistance from the state, various organizations and civil initiatives to pay for housing, the amount of which depends on the canton and the number of family members.
Switzerland has a fairly developed refugee support system, which includes the following opportunities:
- Reception and accommodation: For temporary accommodation, Ukrainian refugees can apply to reception centers that provide temporary accommodation, food and necessary items for personal use.
- Medical assistance: Ukrainian refugees have the right to medical assistance, which covers medical services and medicines. Assistance is provided through the Swiss health system.
