The Netherlands allocates 25 million euros for energy support to Ukraine
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, David van Wiel announced the allocation of 25 million euros to support Ukraine’s energy system. According to his statement, these funds will be used to purchase the necessary equipment, carry out emergency repairs to damaged energy facilities and purchase gas.
“I also told my colleague Andriy Sybig that we are doing more in the energy sector. Russia is deliberately attacking Ukraine’s energy supply. The Netherlands is allocating 25 million euros for equipment, emergency repairs and the purchase of gas. We will not leave our friends to their fate”, – said van Wiel.
He stressed that pressure on Russia must continue, calling it “vitally important”.
“We must also ensure that Russian war crimes do not go unpunished. The Netherlands will participate in the stages of establishing a tribunal on aggression issues, — added the head of the Dutch Foreign Ministry.
During a joint press conference with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, van Wiel reported that the parties discussed specific areas of cooperation, in particular in the field of energy infrastructure. He noted that recent attacks on gas production facilities throughout Ukraine indicate that “Russia is deliberately seeking to plunge Ukraine into the cold this winter”.
“These attacks could result in 12.5 million families being left without electricity or heating during the winter months,” — added van Wiel.
