Law enforcement officers in Khmelnytskyi region exposed the quarry director who organized illegal limestone mining on an industrial scale

Prosecutors of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor’s Office of the Khmelnytskyi Region, together with employees of the Strategic Investigations Department of the State Crime Suppression Unit of the National Police exposed the director of a quarry in the Kamianets-Podilskyi district, who organized illegal industrial mining of limestone.
The investigation established that over two years the head of the enterprise illegally mined almost 237 thousand tons of limestone, with a permitted norm of 50 thousand tons. Later, this breed was sold under the guise of legally mined products, and the profit from the sale amounted to about 57 million hryvnias.
As a result of these actions, significant damage was caused to the environment, which was previously estimated at almost 240 million hryvnias. The man was reported on suspicion under Part 3 of Article 240 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal mining of minerals of national importance with the use of official position) and Part 1 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (legalization of property obtained by criminal means).
Currently, the issue of choosing a preventive measure for him is being resolved. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Investigation Department of the Main Police Department in Khmelnytskyi region.
