Law enforcement officers uncovered a scheme to steal over UAH 15 million from the supply of spare parts for armored vehicles
Law enforcement officers have exposed a group that, according to the investigation, embezzled UAH 15.5 million allocated for the purchase of spare parts and repair of military equipment. This was reported by the Prosecutor General’s Office.
According to the investigation, two officials of a private company were suspected of embezzlement and embezzlement of funds during the sale of parts for armored vehicles. Sources specify that this is LLC “B. M. C. Ukraine”. The police noted that one of the suspects was detained in a procedural order and placed in a temporary detention center. According to a source in the Ukrainian Police, this is Roman Balykin.
The investigation believes that during 2024, the director of the company, together with the commercial director, ensured the victory of the controlled company in defense procurement. To do this, they allegedly manipulated market prices, simulated competition, and systematically inflated the cost of spare parts for military equipment, in particular, the Kirpi armored vehicles, which are actively used at the front.
According to law enforcement, the director organized the preparation of documentation, communicated with the military unit, and distributed the funds received, while the commercial director formed invoices and other papers with knowingly inflated prices. To create the appearance of the most advantageous offer, the manager sent standard requests to related companies and monitored that they submitted commercial offers with a deliberately inflated price.
The examination established that under only two contracts the amount of illegally obtained funds exceeded UAH 15 million. On November 27, police officers conducted 39 searches in Kyiv, Lviv, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, Sumy, Zhytomyr regions and in Kyiv, where they seized documents and information carriers that have evidentiary value in criminal proceedings.
