The Ministry of Defense has opened reintegration centers for military personnel after captivity
Specialized Reintegration Centers for servicemen released from captivity are starting to operate in the medical system of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The new initiative is designed to provide soldiers with comprehensive legal, medical and psychological support within the framework of a single institution. The main feature of the reform is the release of defenders from the need to independently visit military units to resolve bureaucratic issues with documents.
As reported in the relevant department, after each stage of the return of prisoners, specialists from the Department of Social Security conduct a detailed audit of the existing algorithms together with representatives of civil-military cooperation services. To increase the efficiency of work, the Ministry of Defense proposed to introduce civilian positions in social support groups directly in military units.
Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Yevhen Moysiuk, emphasized that the formation of such a “civilian wing” will significantly expand the capabilities of the army in the field of social support. According to him, relatives of servicemen who went missing or were in captivity have long expressed a desire to help the system.
“After making appropriate changes to the regulatory framework, representatives of family associations will be able to officially join the brigades’ civil-military cooperation units,” Moysiuk said.
Social support groups are already operating on the basis of combat brigades, providing consultations on legal and everyday issues to both the servicemen themselves and their family members.
At the same time, functions related to the specific needs of persons who have been in captivity will now be concentrated in the Reintegration Centers. This will allow centralizing the rehabilitation process and significantly speeding up the return of soldiers to normal life. The department’s leadership emphasizes that such an approach is critically important for preserving the personnel potential and morale of the Armed Forces.
“The creation of a civilian wing will significantly strengthen the capabilities of the army in this direction,” Yevhen Moysiuk emphasized.
The introduction of new support standards should become a reliable bridge between combat experience and peaceful life for every Ukrainian defender.
