Lisovyi commented on the abolition of school uniforms in Ukraine
There will no longer be a mandatory school uniform in Ukraine. This decision is based on the state’s desire to create a free society consisting of creative and productive people. This was announced by the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lisovyi.
“Abolition of the dress code. These are values. What values are we fighting for? If freedom is freedom, then the child should feel free. The external framework is a set of values for another society, and we are building a free society of creative and highly productive people“, the official said.
The minister emphasized that he supports this innovation, as the possibility of free choice of school clothes is a pragmatic step.
“If we set frameworks, requirements, a bar from school, and do not integrate self-regulators into the child through values and the educational process… then we will not form such a society”, – he emphasized.
The Minister also added that the dress code requirements have been canceled not only for school clothes, but also for lessons on the subject “Defense of Ukraine”.
Today in Ukraine, students have the right to choose their own school clothes. The only recommendations are that it be neat, seasonal and comfortable, especially in sheltered conditions. Any claims of style, color or other attributes are illegal and unacceptable.
Changes in the educational process
We will remind, earlier Oksen Lisovyi stated that the Ministry of Education and Science does not plan to reduce key disciplines. However, the department is working to make these subjects more concentrated.
Lisovyi also noted that starting in 2027, students of a senior specialized school will have the opportunity to choose a field of study according to their interests.
