Olga Stefanishyna has officially started working as the ambassador of Ukraine to the USA
Olga Stefanyshyn began her diplomatic mission in the United States, officially taking up the duties of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United States. On September 15, she gave copies of the credentials to Abby Jones, First Deputy Chief of Protocol at Blair House in Washington
“As I begin my mission as Ambassador to the United States, I bring with me the courage and resilience of our people”, — notified Stefanishyna.
She noted that she started her work with a minute of silence in honor of the fallen defenders of Ukraine.
“It is thanks to their sacrifice that we continue our diplomatic activities – we protect sovereignty, strengthen partnership relations and strive for a just and lasting peace”, added the ambassador.
We remind you that on August 27, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, announced her appointment. He emphasized that Stefanyshyn was given the task of promoting defense agreements between Ukraine and the United States, in particular the agreement on the purchase of Ukrainian drones by the American side.
Olga Stefanishyna previously held the positions of Minister of Justice and Deputy Minister of European Integration of Ukraine. The case against her is still ongoing in the High Anti-Corruption Court on suspicion of embezzlement of funds through abuse of official position during the time of fugitive president Viktor Yanukovych. At that time, she headed the department of legal support for European integration in the Ministry of Justice and was involved in organizing a tender for three comparative “studies” Ukrainian and European legislation. Stefanishyna received suspicion in this case in 2019.
In July 2025, Bihus.info made public an investigation into Stefanyshyn’s real estate. Journalists established that the ex-minister lives in a three-room business-class apartment near Lviv Square, which she did not include in the declaration. The cost of such apartments at that time started from 9 million hryvnias. Formally, the housing is registered for her mother, Nadia Kravets.
Then Stefanishyna explained that her parents bought the apartment in 2019, and assured that she would include it in the declaration.
