On New Year’s Eve, the Russian army used more than 200 strike drones: damage was recorded at 15 objects
From the evening of December 31 to the morning of January 1, Russian troops launched a massive attack on Ukraine using strike drones. In total, the enemy used 205 drones, of which the Defense Forces managed to neutralize 176. At the same time, 24 strike drones were recorded hitting 15 different locations. This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the military, on the night of January 1, 2026, the enemy attacked with Shahed, Gerbera and other types of drones. The launches were carried out from the territory of the Russian Federation – in particular, from the Orel, Bryansk, Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Millerovoye districts, as well as from the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (Chauda, Gvardiyske) and Donetsk Oblast. About 130 of all launched devices were Shahed drones.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, as well as mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
Air defense shot down or suppressed 176 enemy drones in the north, south, and east of the country. At the same time, 24 strike UAVs were confirmed to have hit 15 targets.
The Air Force also reported that the air attack was still ongoing at the time of the release of the information, and a certain number of enemy drones remained in the airspace.
