On the night of March 30, Ukraine switches to daylight saving time
On the night of March 29 to 30, Ukraine switches to summer time — at 03:00 clock hands must be moved forward one hour. About this reminded in the Kyiv City State Administration.
“We remind you: this Sunday, Ukraine switches to summer time. The hands of the clocks on the night of March 29-30 must be moved forward one hour.” — said the KMDA.
Most modern devices — smartphones, laptops, tablets — automatically update the time during the transition to summer or winter thanks to synchronization with Internet servers. At the same time, owners of mechanical watches and some other devices need to change the time manually.
Synchronization will also take place in the capital metro.
“The subway has a second-by-second train schedule, and the consistency of the entire infrastructure depends on the accuracy of the clocks.” – the administration explained.
Time coordination in the subway is provided by a central clock station.
“It provides an impulse that synchronizes more than 100 end clocks on platforms and more than 3,500 mechanical clocks in stations, depots and service rooms,” — reported in the KMDA.
Maintenance and repair of watch equipment is performed exclusively at night, when trains are not running.
At the same time, discussions are ongoing in Ukraine regarding the feasibility of changing clocks seasonally. For several years now, it has been proposed to leave winter time on a permanent basis. In July 2024, the Verkhovna Rada approved draft law No. 4201, which provides for the rejection of the transition to summer time. However, the final decision on this issue has not yet been made.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy currently does not plan to sign this document, although the speaker of the parliament does not refuse to consider it further.
