“One phone call”: the president of Finland named the condition for ending the war in Ukraine

Stubb also believes that if the leader of China called on the head of the Kremlin to start peace talks, Putin would have no other choice. At the same time, the Finnish president believes that China will have an advantage from ending Russia’s “aggressive and colonial war” against Ukraine.

“He needs to protect international rules related to territorial integrity and sovereignty. This is right. And this will also demonstrate China’s leadership,” the Finnish president said.

At the same time, he criticized Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s proposal to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi to cease fire against the Russian army, which seeks to seize Ukrainian territories, and to start negotiations with Russian President Volodymyr Putin.

“At the moment, there is no question of insisting on a ceasefire, real peace talks are needed. The only thing Russia understands is force. And therefore, the more we can help Ukraine now, the sooner we will end the war,” he said. Stubb.

At the same time, he called on European countries to strengthen their support for Ukraine and increase their own defense potential. According to Stubb, Ukraine needs both material assistance, in particular financial, and political assistance, including strengthening the path to membership in both the EU and NATO.
