More than 62 thousand Ukrainian servicemen have been trained in the UK as part of Operation Interflex since 2022. This data was published by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
“The Interflex training operation is one of the key elements of practical military support for Ukraine from the UK and partner states. Since 2022, more than 62,000 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have received training within the framework of the program, and the financing of the operation has been extended until the end of 2026, – the ministry said in a statement.
The goal of the operation is to promptly and systematically prepare the Ukrainian military for conducting modern high-intensity warfare. The training is taking place at British training grounds under the leadership of the Armed Forces of Great Britain, as well as with the involvement of instructors from more than ten partner countries in Europe, North America and Oceania. This approach allows for the combination of different combat experiences and NATO standards.
Interflex basic training lasts several weeks and includes key skills for service at the front: individual infantry training, tactical actions of small units, fire training and weapons handling, engineering and mine safety, tactical medicine, as well as actions in urban and trench warfare.
The Ministry of Defense notes that the training program is constantly updated, taking into account the combat experience of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and changes in enemy tactics.
“In terms of scale and scope of training, Interflex is one of the largest training missions for a foreign army implemented by the United Kingdom in recent decades. Interflex is not only a training project, but also an investment in Ukraine’s resilience, increasing the combat effectiveness of military personnel, and preserving the lives of personnel, the Ministry of Defense added.
