Poland allowed NATO troops to be on its territory within the scope of the Eastern Guard operation.

The President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, signed a resolution that allows military units of NATO member states to stay on the territory of the country within the scope of the Eastern Guard operation. This was reported by the National Security Bureau of Poland.

In the statement of the department, it is noted that the decision concerns the foreign contingents of the Alliance, which must provide reinforcements to Poland within the framework of this operation. At the same time, the president’s resolution is classified as a secret document.

Previously, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced the start of the Eastern Sentinel operation. on the eastern flank of the block. As he explained, its purpose is to “eliminate specific threats associated with the use of drones”.

According to him, resources of a number of member states, including Denmark, France, Great Britain and Germany, will be involved in the operation. The plan envisages the use of both classic military means and specialized capabilities associated with the use of drones.

The operation was initiated after incidents involving Russian drones that violated Polish airspace. In just a few days, similar violations of the border with Romania were recorded. Both of these countries are members of NATO.
