Poland reports an escalation on the border with Belarus: migrants are attacked by armed groups
The situation on the Polish-Belarusian border has escalated to a critical point due to the increase in the number and aggressiveness of migrant attacks.

According to him, Polish border guards are forced to resort to warning shots more and more often. In May 2024, 770 such cases were recorded, which significantly exceeds the figures for the entire year 2023 (about 300).
“The situation on the border is difficult. On the other side of the border, we are dealing with specialized groups that attack the Polish border and do not want to receive asylum in Poland“, Kosinyak-Kamysh said.
The minister emphasized that the nature of the attacks has changed: now the Polish border is attacked by well-organized and armed groups of migrants who do not seek asylum, but aim to destabilize the situation.
We would like to remind you that in recent weeks several serious incidents were recorded on the border with Belarus:
- On May 28, three Polish border guards were attacked by migrants, one of them was stabbed.
- On May 31, two Polish soldiers were hospitalized after being beaten by migrants.
- On June 6, it became known about the death of a Polish border guard who was wounded at the end of May.
The Polish authorities express serious concern about the escalation of the situation at the border and are taking measures to strengthen security.
