Russian troops are actively attacking Ukraine, preparing for an offensive – Yermak

In an interview with Politico, the head of the President’s Office, Andriy Yermak, said that over the past three weeks, Russia has significantly intensified its attacks on Ukraine. According to him, this is part of the campaign to prepare for a new large-scale offensive.

This was stated by the head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak in an interview with Politico.

Yermak considers the most likely target for the main strike of the Russian Federation to be Kharkiv:

“He (Yermak – ed.) believes that the northeastern city of Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second largest, is the most likely target for the main strike. Kharkiv has come under particularly heavy shelling, and large-scale Russian attacks have led to the destruction of its power plants“.

Yermak noted that he expects a new wave of mobilization in Russia and a possible start of counteroffensive operations from the end of May or the beginning of June.

We know that Putin is preparing a new wave of mobilization, and we believe that new Russian counteroffensive operations may begin in late May or early June. Of course, we should be ready for it. As before, we critically need additional air defense systems, because without them we will not be able to protect our cities“.

According to Yermak, Ukraine also needs more Patriot surface-to-air missiles to protect the front line.

Answering the question about the possible re-election of Donald Trump and the risk of the Republicans blocking aid to Ukraine, Yermak expressed confidence that the support of Ukraine from the US will continue:

“I don’t believe that anyone in Ronald Reagan’s party will leave Ukraine. Reagan understood the Soviet Union and Russia, and anyone who understands that will continue to support our fighters because they understand that dictators never stop voluntarily and their must be stopped”.

Yermak also shared his expectations regarding the approval of the new aid package for Ukraine:

After speaking with Biden’s national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, Yermak remains confident that aid to Ukraine will eventually be approved. He wasn’t sure when that would happen, but he insisted that it should happen as soon as possible. “This is costing us lives, and I really hope that a decision will be made this month, because Ukraine is approaching a critical moment“, Yermak said.”
