Rustem Umerov’s talks with Lloyd Austin will take place in Washington – the Pentagon

The conversation will be held against the background of Kyiv's calls to increase the supply of weapons due to prolonged military operations.

On July 2, talks between the head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umyerov, and his American counterpart, Lloyd Austin, will be held in Washington. This is stated in messages Pentagon.

“Secretary of State Austin and Minister Umerov will discuss bilateral defense cooperation, regional security issues, and ways to strengthen the defense partnership between the US and Ukraine,” Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh said during a briefing on July 1.

It is also known that the negotiations will take place against the background of calls from the Ukrainian political leadership to partners to supply the Ukrainian military with more weapons that would help to more effectively resist the invasion of Russia.

It is the United States that provides the most military aid to Ukraine in the war that the Russian Federation started on February 24, 2022. The total amount of aid provided to Kyiv by the administration of President Joe Biden is more than 50 billion dollars.
