Security measures will be tightened in Ukraine for Easter

National Police of Ukraine will strengthen security measures during the celebration of Easter this year, including the possibility of selective inspection of citizens’ belongings.

“During the celebration of Easter on Sunday, April 20, the National Police, like every year, will increase security measures. Police crews will be brought closer to places of worship“, said National Police spokeswoman Yulia Girdvilis.

According to her, law enforcement officers will maintain order near temples, on streets and highways. Random surface checks of citizens may also be conducted. Due to the state of war, there may be restrictions, in particular, regarding the time of religious services – the schedules will take into account the curfew.

“We urge you to observe the restrictions imposed by the martial law and not to ignore the ‘Air Alert!’ signals. You must remember that the enemy is insidious and can resort to any actions even on Easter.”, – added the spokeswoman of the National Police.

Devotees are advised to come to the temples only after the end of the curfew, instead the night services will be streamed online. In the event of an air alert, all those present must immediately go to the shelter, and the number of people in the temple must not exceed the capacity of the nearest shelter.
