Seven miners released from Kryvyi Rih mine after Russian attack
Seven miners who were trapped underground after a Russian missile strike on the city were brought to the surface from a mine in Kryvyi Rih. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported this on its official social media.
“On January 8, several areas of the city were left without power as a result of a missile strike, including mines where people were working at the time. Seven workers remained underground in one of the mines – at levels of – 1,490 m and 940 m. The mine rescuers of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, together with the company’s specialists, used a generator, started a lifting mechanism, and ensured the descent of the mine cage. After more than six hours of work, all workers were brought to the surface, the report said.
According to rescuers, all evacuated miners were uninjured and are feeling well.
As previously reported, on January 7, Russian occupation forces carried out one of the largest combined attacks on Kryvyi Rih since the start of the full-scale invasion, striking several locations. And on January 8, the city was again shelled, according to preliminary data, the Russians fired two ballistic “Iskander” missiles at apartment buildings.
