The Cabinet of Ministers is preparing to launch a military risk insurance program

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is preparing to launch an insurance program that will cover compensation for damaged property in front-line territories at the expense of the Export Credit Agency (ECA). This was reported by the head of the Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Danylo Getmantsev.

According to him, the program will have two components. The first provides compensation for damaged property in the front-line territories at the expense of EKA after submitting the appropriate application. The second part is the system of insurance of military risks in other territories, which will be implemented through budgetary reimbursement of a part of the insurance premium in order to make this tool available to businesses and citizens.

“For this, it is necessary to adopt small amendments to the status of EKA in the law and a decision at the level of the CM on the budget program. Expenses are moderate. It was a difficult path. Thank you to the CM and NBU for the constructive work and I am waiting for the final decisions, Hetmantsev noted.

Let us remind you that on June 26, Danylo Hetmantsev stated that draft law No. 12372 on the military risk insurance system, which was prepared by the Ministry of Economy together with the NBU, is not yet ready for consideration in the Verkhovna Rada, even in the first reading, and needs to be revised.

According to him, this document actually does not form a full-fledged system of insurance of military risks in the economy, but is reduced only to the introduction of mandatory insurance of bank collateral. In addition, the project provides for the creation of a state insurance agency in the form of a joint-stock company, which, according to the authors’ idea, should monopolize such insurance or determine the conditions for the relevant insurance products.
