End of local truce: two external power transmission lines at the ZNPP are operating again

At the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant temporarily occupied by Russia, the operation of the 330 kV reserve power transmission line “Ferrosplavna-1” was restored. It was connected after the completion of repair work, which became possible thanks to a local ceasefire organized through the mediation of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

“The 330 kV Ferrosplavna-1 power transmission line has been restored and reconnected to the Zaporizhzhia NPP after repair work,” the message states.

The IAEA emphasized that after the restoration of this line, the Zaporizhzhia NPP again has two external power transmission lines that provide its power supply.

Previously, the parties agreed to a local ceasefire in the area of the station in order to repair the Ferrosplavna-1 backup line, which was disconnected on 10 February. Similar arrangements have already been used before: with the assistance of the IAEA, temporary silence regimes allowed for five repairs of power lines connected to the plant.

Back in January, the agency reported on the resumption of the Ferrosplavna-1 reserve line at the occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.

At the same time, the Ukrainian military recorded that Russian units were placing military equipment on the territory of the captured plant. Energoatom NPP emphasizes that such actions pose a threat to nuclear safety and actually turn a civilian facility into a military base, which creates a danger not only for Ukraine, but also for the whole world.
