The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the procedure for responding to cases of gender discrimination
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the procedure for responding to cases of discrimination on the basis of gender. This document defines mechanisms for protecting victims and ensures a rapid response to manifestations of discrimination.
“The implementation of this document will help prevent discrimination and violence based on gender, respond promptly to such cases, and ensure proper protection of victims”, the message says.
The new procedure stipulates the general principles for considering appeals, procedures for submitting complaints, mechanisms for informing about them, as well as the form of annual reporting to the National Social Service. The document also provides for measures to prevent discrimination based on gender, sexual harassment, and gender-based violence.
To ensure a rapid response to relevant cases, the Cabinet of Ministers is creating permanent commissions that will consider citizens’ appeals. The procedure was developed taking into account the recommendations of the European Commission based on the results of the screening of the implementation of EU law into Ukrainian legislation.
