The CEC has resumed the work of the State Voter Register for the first time since the beginning of the war

For the first time since the start of the full-scale war, the State Register of Voters has been restored in Ukraine – the relevant decision was made by the Central Election Commission of Ukraine.

This was reported by the head of the “Servant of the People” faction; David Arakhamia. According to him, this concerns the restoration of technical and organizational interaction between the CEC and citizens and state authorities in terms of maintaining the register.

Updating data in the register is a basic condition for holding any elections. During the war, the demographic situation in Ukraine changed significantly: millions of people changed their place of residence, went abroad or returned, and these changes must be taken into account in voter registration data.

The commentary also notes that a significant amount of work lies ahead to update the information. At the same time, the resumption of the registry does not mean that elections will automatically be held, but is a necessary step to bring state registers up to date.
