The government announced measures to regulate the situation in the fuel market

To resolve the situation on the fuel market, which arose due to hostilities in the Middle East, the government is implementing a set of measures. This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

In particular, the state-owned company “Ukrnafta” will sell fuel with a minimum trade markup, forming a benchmark for a fair price on the market in the current conditions, she noted.

“In parallel, we are working with other fuel market operators and counting on their responsible and balanced pricing policy,” – Svyrydenko emphasized.

She also instructed the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine and the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection to strengthen control over the pricing policy of operators so as not to to allow unjustified markups and market manipulations by individual market participants.

Separately, the head of government instructed the First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Energy, together with the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Development, the Ministry of Economy and Naftogaz, to pay special attention to ensuring the needs of the defense sector.

“The absolute priority remains to ensure the availability of fuel and price stability for farmers, as well as sufficient resources and price stability for public transport”, she noted.

Also, as Svyrydenko added, work is ongoing with international partners to increase the volume of fuel imports into the Ukrainian market.

The average price of autogas at Ukrainian gas stations on March 5 increased by UAH 0.32 per liter and reached UAH 40.27/l, while prices for gasoline and diesel fuel in large networks remained stable.

The Antimonopoly Committee appealed to gas station networks in Ukraine and called on them to provide information on the reasons for the increase in prices for petroleum products and liquefied gas within three days.
