The government has appointed a new composition of the supervisory board of “Energoatom”
The government has approved the new composition of the supervisory board of the state-owned company “Energoatom”. This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
The board includes seven members, including – four independent experts: Rumina Velshi, Laura Garbenchiute-Bakiene, Patrick Fragman and Brice Bouillon.
“All of them are reputable international experts with many years of experience in the fields of nuclear energy, finance, risk management and legal regulation”, – noted Svyrydenko.
The state will be represented by Deputy Minister of Economy Vitaly Kindrativ, Head of the State Agency for Infrastructure Reconstruction and Development of Ukraine Serhiy Sukhomlyn and State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy Maksym Malashkin.
The competition for the positions was held with the participation of independent representatives of the EU, EBRD, IFC and the Business Ombudsman and took place in a fully open and competitive procedure, the Prime Minister added.
At the first meeting with the new members of the Supervisory Board, Svyrydenko emphasized the need to urgently appoint new management of the company. During this period, the government instructed to replace the company’s interim management.
“The new supervisory board must also conduct a full analysis of the company’s previous activities: contracts, purchases and auctions for the sale of electricity, taking into account information from law enforcement agencies, the media and people’s deputies”, the prime minister said.
As previously reported, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau revealed details of a scheme in which officials and persons associated with them received illegal benefits from contractors of “Energoatom”. Timur Mindich, a friend of Volodymyr Zelensky, is suspected of organizing the scheme.
On November 11, the government prematurely terminated the powers of the previous supervisory board of NNEGC “Energoatom”, and on November 26, a competition for the positions of independent members began. 83 applications were received for four positions. The nomination committee approved the new members on December 31.
