The government is launching a new mechanism that will simplify the return of young people from the occupied territories
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is launching a one-year pilot project aimed at simplifying the registration of an identity card for return to Ukraine for citizens born after August 24, 1991 in the temporarily occupied territories.
The launch of the new mechanism was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko . According to her, it will make it possible to obtain a document even in cases where information about a person is missing from state registers.
The certificate will be issued through designated foreign diplomatic institutions of Ukraine. Data from state registers will be used to confirm the identity, and if they are insufficient, the testimony of close relatives, in particular in online format.
“The certificate will be issued free of charge through certain foreign diplomatic institutions of Ukraine, in particular in Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, Kazakhstan and other countries,” explained Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.
The project applies to citizens who, due to temporary occupation or other circumstances, have lost access to Ukrainian documents and cannot legally return to the territory controlled by Ukraine.
According to Svyrydenko, applications for children under the age of 16 will be submitted by parents or legal representatives. The government emphasizes that the new mechanism should make the process of returning citizens more accessible and understandable even in difficult life circumstances.
