The largest number of school buses will be allocated for the frontline regions
The distribution of funds from the state budget for the purchase of school buses continues. The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine noted that this year priority will be given to regions located in the war zone, as well as regions bordering the Russian Federation.
“The MES commission will distribute the subvention in proportion to the number of students who need a ride and who are not picked up by school buses, based on the information submitted by the regional state (military) administration and the data of state statistical reporting. Priority for receiving state funding will be given to regions in the combat zone and border regions regions, namely: Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Sumy, Kherson and Chernihiv,” the ministry said.
In general, in 2024, 1 billion hryvnias will be allocated for the purchase of transport for educational institutions.
During the distribution of another subvention for schools, aimed at arranging shelters, this year the advantage was also given to the frontline regions.
“The shelter subsidy was directed specifically to the front-line areas, where access to face-to-face education is practically impossible due to the threat of constant shelling. Transportation is another key infrastructural component for the return of students to face-to-face education. After all, thanks to buses, communities will be able to bring children to more safe areas in schools with shelters, which are built and repaired at the expense of the state and local budgets,” said Andriy Stashkiv, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine.
The process of distributing state subsidies for the provision of shelters for schools in eight front-line and border regions with Russia continues.
We will remind you that a school reconstruction project has started in Ukraine “Future School for Ukraine”, which is implemented with the support of Lithuania. As part of the initiative, a competition for teams of architects has been announced. Participants present their vision of schools to be built in Ukraine. It is about the creation of several typical, but adaptive projects for the construction of educational institutions.
