The Ministry of Defense codified two new tactical armored vehicles

The Ministry of Defense codified and approved for use in the Defense Forces new Ukrainian-made tactical armored vehicles – “Varta-2” and UAT.GYURZA-02.

“Providing the army with modern armored vehicles remains one of the priorities of the Ministry of Defense. New armored vehicles must meet strict criteria of efficiency, reliability and, above all, have a high degree of protection for the crew and troops. It is important that the new weapons and equipment offered to the army include a significant technological potential, in particular in terms of firepower, security, and functionality.” – noted Deputy Minister of Defense Valery Churkin.

The Varta-2 armored car belongs to the modern MRAP class and was developed taking into account the combat experience and needs of the Ukrainian military. This machine is available in three versions: a basic model, a version with an armored turret for a 12.7 mm machine gun, as well as a version with a remote-controlled combat module designed for weapons of 12.7 mm, 14.5 mm or 30 mm caliber.

“Varta-2” has high protection indicators: ballistic resistance meets the CCSA-6 standard and provides protection against 7.62×54 mm caliber bullets, as well as B32 armor-piercing and incendiary rounds at a distance of 10 meters. Anti-mine safety allows you to withstand an explosion of up to 8 kg in TNT equivalent. The cabin is equipped with anti-mine seats, a suspended floor and other safety devices.

The car is equipped with a 6.7-liter turbodiesel engine, an automatic transmission, a modern braking system, navigation systems, fire extinguishing, masking, and air filtration to protect against chemical and biological threats.

Another novelty is the UAT.GYURZA-02 armored car, which is a modernized version of the already used GYURZA-01 model. In the new version, the level of armor protection has been improved, as well as improved dynamic and off-road characteristics. The car is equipped with a 6.7-liter turbodiesel, an automatic transmission, a dual-circuit brake system, and other modern components.

The amphibious module provides protection against the fire of armor-piercing incendiary bullets of caliber 7.62×39 mm and 7.62×54 mm. The V-shaped bottom makes it possible to withstand the detonation of a mine with a power of up to 8 kg in TNT equivalent. Any machine gun with a caliber of up to 14.5 mm can be installed on the car.
