The Ministry of Defense presented the Droid TW combat robot with AI

Ministry of Defense presented ground robotic complex Droid TW, intended for fire support of units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. Its main feature is that the platform was originally designed for both reconnaissance and strike missions, and not adapted to them later.
The complex is equipped with an artificial intelligence system that provides recognition of the enemy’s manpower. This makes it possible to increase the effectiveness of fire damage and surveillance even in difficult combat conditions thanks to the capabilities of autonomous operation and remote control.
The development of Droid TW started several years ago, the first field tests took place in 2023, and already in December 2024, the platform was officially codified for delivery to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“The first Droid TW models were created on the basis of the 12.7 mm Browning machine gun. Today, the model line has been expanded to include a 7.62 mm machine gun. Depending on the modification, the ammunition can consist of 480 or 1,000 rounds that hit manpower or enemy equipment at a distance of up to 1 km.”, the Ministry of Defense noted.
The complex is effective both during the day and at night – thanks to the thermal imager with several display modes on the operator’s screen. Target detection range is up to 1.5 km during the day and up to 1 km at night. The system allows you to automatically detect, recognize and track targets, as well as calculate the trajectory of fire thanks to an integrated ballistic calculation system.
The platform supports military communications and is compatible with Starlink and LTE technologies, which provides a reliable control channel even in a combat zone.
Due to its compact size, Droid TW is easy to transport – it can be transported in the back of a pickup truck or on a trailer. It takes up to 5 minutes to put the complex into combat mode, after which it is fully ready to perform tasks, controlled remotely using a tablet or gamepad.
