The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has provided an official response to Kazakhstan’s protest regarding the strike Armed Forces of Ukraine at the facility of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium company in Novorossiysk, Russia. The department emphasized that the actions of the Ukrainian military are a reaction to the constant attacks of the Russian Federation.
The statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes that Ukraine does not intend to harm Kazakhstan, and all strikes are aimed solely at countering Russian aggression. The defense forces are systematically reducing the military capabilities of the Russian Federation and depriving it of the resources necessary for waging war.
The ministry also drew attention to the fact that the Kazakh side has not made similar statements condemning Russian strikes on Ukrainian civilians, residential buildings, infrastructure and energy.
The statement emphasizes:
“We call on all parties to direct their efforts to force the aggressor to end the criminal war against our state and people as soon as possible. Finally, we confirm our unwavering respect for the Kazakh people and our determination to develop friendly and pragmatic relations with the Republic of Kazakhstan, which correspond to the level of historically strong ties between our peoples.
Kazakhstan previously expressed a diplomatic protest over the attack on the facilities of the international Caspian Pipeline Consortium in the port of Novorossiysk, calling it the third “act of aggression” against civilian infrastructure. The Kazakh Foreign Ministry stated that they consider the incident as an event that negatively affects bilateral relations and expect Ukraine to take steps to prevent similar situations from recurring.
According to Reuters, the CPC terminal in Novorossiysk provides more than 1% of global oil supplies. The consortium was established in 1992 and its work is related to the transportation of oil from the Tengiz, Kashagan and Karachaganak fields. The shareholders include companies from Kazakhstan, Russia, the USA and European countries.
