The Ministry of Justice resumed the work of the site after a cyberattack

Ministry of Justice of Ukraine restored operation of the official website after a large-scale cyber attack. It became the cause of significant violations in the network infrastructure that ensures the functioning of state registers.

“In addition to those already launched, we currently expect the rest of the registries to be restored. We expect at least one more registry to be launched in the near future.” – noted in the press service of the department.

The problems began on December 19, when the Ministry of Justice reported a significant technical failure. According to the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olga Stefanishyna, this attack was aimed at state registers under the authority of the agency. In connection with the threat, the work of the registers and the official website of the ministry was temporarily suspended.

Later, the Ukrainian authorities said that the incident is another evidence of hybrid aggression by the Russian Federation, which is trying to destabilize the state processes of Ukraine through digital attacks. At the same time, government representatives assured that technicians will make every effort to restore the system as soon as possible. It was announced that the registers would be restored within two weeks.

Despite the complexity of the situation, the Ministry of Justice managed to return to work both the website and the partial functioning of the registers. At the same time, the government announces the strengthening of measures to protect information systems and preparation for the introduction of new technologies to ensure the cyber security of the state.
