The National Police is preparing to strengthen responsibility for violations of traffic rules

Ukrainian police plans to strengthen responsibility for violations of traffic rules (TDR). In the queue for consideration are several actual draft laws, which the patrol police worked on, provided official conclusions and proposals for documents. This was reported by the first deputy chief of the Department of the Patrol Police of Ukraine Oleksiy Biloshitskyi.

The patrol police have developed a draft law that strengthens control over drunken driving. The document provides for the mandatory evacuation of the car to the penalty area if the driver is driving while intoxicated. Next up are a number of the most relevant draft laws, which the patrol police worked on and provided official conclusions and proposals.

“All these steps are designed to form the main thing – a feeling of the inevitability of punishment. This is exactly what international experience proves, because it disciplines the best, Oleksiy Biloshitskyi noted.

He also reported on innovations in terms of strengthening sanctions: drifting – a fine of up to UAH 17,000 with deprivation of rights; excessive noise — a fine of up to UAH 34,000; drunken driving — a fine of up to UAH 51,000, deprivation of rights and confiscation of the car; driving while intoxicated during martial law — the possibility of car confiscation in favor of units of the Armed Forces.

In addition, it is planned to strengthen responsibility for systematic violations of traffic rules, to impose a fine of up to UAH 8,500 for violating the rules regarding winter or all-season tires with deprivation of rights in case of repetition, regulation of personal electric vehicles, lowering of the “non-fine threshold” speeds from 20 to 10 km/h with a clear gradation of fines, the mandatory use of reflectors for pedestrians in the dark or in conditions of insufficient visibility, as well as the introduction of a system of penalty points and the opportunity for citizens to record violations.
