The NBU answered whether the frozen funds of the Russian Federation are sufficient to compensate for Ukraine’s losses

According to the report of the publication “Kreschatic”, referring to the words of the head of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Andriy Pyshny on the air of the YouTube channel “We are Ukraine“, the frozen assets of Russia will probably not be enough to compensate for all the losses caused to our country.
Figures regarding the amount of frozen assets of the Russian Federation are currently not final, Pyshnyi notes. Different sources give slightly different figures, ranging from 260 to 300 billion US dollars.
“However, we can talk about the total amount of about 300 billion dollars”, – he emphasized.
Ukraine considers these frozen funds as a source for covering the losses caused by the war, added the head of the NBU. However, according to World Bank estimates, as of the end of 2023, the total amount of damage caused to Ukraine as a result of hostilities reaches 500 billion dollars. This is much more than the amount of frozen assets of the Russian Federation
