The number of civil servants in Ukraine has decreased by 66 thousand in 5 years

Over the course of five years, 66,000 positions in the civil service were cut in Ukraine. About this stated Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during question time to the government.
“Over the past five years, we have significantly reduced the number of civil servants. For your information, the reduction of 66,000 vacancies and 43,000 relevant civil servants over these years is the government’s contribution to the saving of public funds, which has already been made. Military expenses are financed exclusively by Ukraine, at the expense of Ukrainian taxpayers. Other expenses – social, budget, in particular, economic programs, are financed with the funds of partners.” Shmyhal said.
He emphasized that the government continues to reduce non-targeted spending and carry out deregulation.
He will remind, according to the data of the Ministry of Finance, in March 2025, the average salary of employees of central authorities increased to 54.22 thousand UAH, in February it was 51.4 thousand UAH. The highest average salaries among state bodies were recorded in the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption — 115.9 thousand hryvnias.
The second highest pay level is the National Commission that regulates energy and communal services, where the average salary is 91.3 thousand hryvnias. The Verkhovna Rada Apparatus takes third place with an average of 81.5 thousand hryvnias.
