The SBU and NABU exposed the former head of the Ukrenergo Department for embezzlement of budget funds during the purchase of body armor
The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine exposed the head of one of the departments of PJSC NEC Ukrenergo for corruption. According to the investigation, in the spring of 2022, the official organized the purchase of body armor for the company’s employees at double the inflated cost, causing losses to the state budget in the amount of more than 10 million UAH.

“The Security Service and NABU exposed a high-ranking official of PJSC NEC Ukrenergo for corruption. We are talking about the head of one of the Departments of the state enterprise, who in the spring of 2022 organized the purchase of bulletproof vests for employees of the energy company at an artificially inflated cost. To implement the equipment, the official involved an affiliated commercial structure that does not even have permits and licenses for the production of military ammunition.”, – the message says.

The former head of the department of “Ukrenergo” was notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of power or official position). He faces up to 6 years in prison. The question of selecting a preventive measure for him is being resolved.
The investigation continues, all the circumstances of the crime are being established. Comprehensive measures were conducted under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
