The SBU eliminated a mobilization evasion scheme organized by an official of the Ministry of Justice

The Security Service of Ukraine has stopped the activities of a mobilization evasion scheme organized by one of the heads of the Central Interregional Department of the Ministry of Justice.
The investigation found that the official offered people who were trying to avoid the draft, help to remove them from the military registration on the basis of forged medical reports that indicated a “poor” state of health. In addition, the official assured clients that, if necessary, he can resolve the issue of deleting their personal data from the search for territorial picking centers. The cost of such “services” was 20 thousand US dollars.
To implement this arrangement, the person involved used personal connections in medical institutions and military commissariats of the capital. SBU employees documented the official’s illegal activities and arrested him red-handed when he received a part of the bribe for “de-registration” of a conscript.
On the basis of the collected evidence, the investigators of the Security Service notified the detainee of suspicion under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, in particular, under the third part of Article 15 and the first part of Article 114-1, which refers to an unfinished attempt to obstruct the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations, as well as under the third part of Article 369-2 regarding the acceptance of an offer, promise or obtaining an illegal benefit for oneself or of a third party for influencing the decision-making by a person authorized to perform the functions of the state, combined with the demand for such a benefit.
Currently, an investigation is underway to establish all the persons involved and the circumstances of the crime committed. The perpetrator faces up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property. Comprehensive measures were carried out jointly with internal and internal security units of the State Border Service of Ukraine under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
