The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the crash of a Su-24M in the Khmelnytskyi region and has already recovered the black box.

The State Bureau of Investigation has opened a pre-trial investigation into the crash of a Su-24M military aircraft in the Khmelnytskyi region. The SBI reported this on June 17.

According to preliminary data, the crash occurred on June 16 at around 7:00 p.m. near one of the settlements in the Khmelnytskyi region. The flight was carried out in accordance with combat orders. Two servicemen died as a result of the crash. One of them was mobilized on February 24, 2022 among the first volunteers, the second chose military service back in 2019.

An operational investigation group has left for the site of the plane crash. Currently, experts are investigating all the circumstances of the flight, checking the technical condition of the aircraft, and establishing the causes of the crash.

The “black box” has already been removed from the scene of the incident, which will be submitted for examination. Investigators also seize the aircraft’s logbook, the crew’s medical examination logbook, the flight controller’s logbook at the airfield, and other official, including permit, documentation for conducting flights.

Preliminary legal qualification – violation of flight rules or preparation for them, which caused a disaster or other serious consequences (Part 2, Article 416 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
